Hey there! My name is Sutheshna Mani and I’m someone who loves to do too many things at once. I graduated from Cornell University in 2017 with a B.S. degree in Communication with concentrations in Media Studies and Persuasion & Social Influence and have since then worked in Digital Marketing.
I’ve loved performing arts since I was a child: Singing, dancing and acting. I’m classically trained in Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance) for twelve years, Carnatic music (South Indian classical music) lessons for three years. For the past three years since 2017, I’ve done musical theatre around San Diego and have had the opportunity to perform in ten productions and stage readings around San Diego, two productions being virtual (smh Corona).
This blog was born out of living without fear, shame and judgement, something I’ve always struggled to disentangle myself from. I’ve always been afraid to pull the plug and chase after something that involved risk. Growing up in an immigrant family, you learn to prioritize stability and security. You’re encouraged to be a go-getter, but on matters that don’t require too much comfort with uncertainty. Risk-taking isn’t something I learned to approach with gumption. I’d like to change that.
When you think about the fact that we are just a fraction of an iota in the span on the universe, existing on a floating rock in space, you realize how possible and achievable many of your “outlandish” goals are. Maybe you’ve had large ambitions that you’ve been hesitant to share, but I’m here to tell you that this is a safe space to tell that, and that we’re all in this together. Because we can’t control many things in our life, but what we can control is how we approach what comes our way. What we can control, is our attitude.
I’ve always had a natural itch to create, and that has been my saving grace. My anxieties, while a hindrance at many moments in my life, would yet be scrawled into a notebook, mapped out in a visual design or sung in a song. That’s kind of what this blog is a representation of.
I’m going to tell you my experiences, my findings, my reviews, my journeys in performing arts, navigating the entertainment business, growing a business, shifting careers and more. Unapologetic. Unbridled.
My goal is that this blog not only helps me navigate the world a little better, but it helps you, even a little bit, too.
